Somewhere to put all the bits and pieces that tend to float by and drift away.

John Francis Dooley, wipe the sleep from your eyes

And embrace the light

You have slept now for a thousand years

Beneath starless nights

And now it’s time for you to renounce the old ways

And to see a new dawn rise

In former days, the masks were raised

When the god came down from off the mountain

And a sacrifice was made

For they knew that the day of wrath was fast approaching

Just like yesterday, before the war

John Francis Dooley, the scapegoat has run

All our sins are disowned

And now it’s time for you to take off your mask

And cross the Rubicon

If you and I were one within the eyes of our designs

It would still not change the fact of our leaving

For tonight we must leave with the first gentle breeze

For the Isles of Ken we are assailing

Just like Ulysses on the open sea

On an odyssey of self-discovery

I saw Dead Can Dance live. I’m still in emotional shock.

I suck at this!

Blogging sucks.
Or rather - I suck at it!

Methinks I’ll close this thing down soon, and consentrate on getting my “real” webpage up and rolling again!

So there.

Just to remind myself that war is more than propaganda - HERE’s some pretty gruesome images from Iraq.

Job-job-job!

Jessss! Got a nanny-job, starting tomorrow - or today, actually :)
The family seemed great, the kid was super sweet, location was awesome, pay was good - could’ve been more hours, but with a bit of luck, I can combine it with that other place, book-keeping, if that works out.
Those places aren’t even far from each others.

Hoooooray!

Just saw the series finale of Six Feet Under. Whoa, emotionally draining, sad it’s gone. Great show, great ending. Oh well.

Things are looking better!

House of Voodoo had their 6th anniversary last night, and Andy (our room-mate) wanted to go, so I went and did a little DJ’ing! Absolutely wonderful, I had a great time, people asked about Kari Rueslaatten, and I had fun catching up with some of the people I haven’t seen in quite a while.
The crowd at HoV seems to get smaller every time, I guess the trad-type goth isn’t as popular as the more industral/synth variety. Too bad, such a cool club - but if Mr. Voodoo keeps up the good work, I feel confident it’ll pick up again.

Today I’m talking with some people about a Nanny position, and I’ve got another possible prospect as a book-keeper! O_o
Believe it or not, but I think I’d be up for the job, and it’s in an absolutely wonderful place, so I’m crossing my fingers.

Nothing new, really…

It seems I’ll be here for a while, my immigration process has sped up, and things are going fine in the family sphere. Low on cash, but what’s new…
I spend my days doing some work, and fiddling with the garden and some of my “projects”. Next Friday I’m having a hair client over, she’s going to Burning Man and wants yarn, ribbons etc braided in, I’m really looking forward to it, think it’ll be cool.
Best news ever - it sounds like one of my best friends is coming over, as soon as she’s done selling her condo! I’m x’ing every digit.
But I’m getting seriously homesick, too, so I’ll have to find a way to go to Norway when Jeanette leaves.
And I want to make music! With Vilde!

Search for a lost master

Reading about the girl who had been murdered to pose as a fake Persian mummy reminded me of one of the best horror stories I remember reading, “The Tofar Bride” by Hanns Heinz Ewers.

I googled and googled, but as far as I can tell, the only translation I found was the one I read, in a Norwegian anthology from 1976, collected - and most probably translated by - the genious André Bjerke.

A search on Amazon.com turned up a couple of titles, but it doesn’t seem to be any good anthologies around. At least not in English. Too bad.
Supposedly H. P. Lovecraft mentioned Ewers as an influence, which at least on my list amounts to quite a bit!

Edited:
Wow, I think I found one! Next time I have cash to spend I’m definitly ordering this.

My first soaps - or Death by glitter

Category: Craftstuff. Posted by Administrator at 11:29 pm. Edit This

Got my first soap supplies today, and promptly made my first batch of “Melt & Pour” soaps. 2 lbs honey-glycerin soap became 7 neat soap bars.
Molds: 4 Horus’ Eyes, 1 Wicca/Goddes and 2 oatbran-light-scrub in a large yoghurt cup.
I used various mixes of citrus/cream and frankinsence/myrrh. Pretty cool combination, but the citrus pretty much overrides the rest, so I think I’ll use them separately in the future.
I used red color and glitter (”Mica”, natural/cosmetic grade), except in the oatbrans. I tested pouring a little glitter in the bottom of the molds on 2 of them, and it looks a bit messy.

The red came out really beautiful translucent ruby, and the non-colored looks lovely honeyish.

No honey-scent from the base, so next time I’ll add a little honey, and some beeswax so it doesn’t get too soft/sticky.

Todays lesson: A little Mica goes a long way.

Pictures will follow as soon as I remember to charge a camera.
